GrandVista Signs Marty Raybon -- (July 20, 2009)

It's a label that believes in producing new standards to achieve the finest quality in recorded music today. So it's no surprise that GrandVista Music is pleased to announce signing singer/songwriter Marty Raybon to the Nashville based label. “The opportunity and vision of GrandVista that I have been given is a dream come true," says Raybon.

A seasoned and successful artist, Marty Raybon is the total country entertainer. From bluegrass to southern gospel, to the grass roots of country, Marty Raybon's career has spanned over two decades and includes five #1 hits, a Grammy award, and a CMA award. Raybon first made a splash in the country music scene as Shenandoah’s lead singer from 1985 until 1997. During his time with the band, they produced hits including: “Next to You, Next to Me;” “Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart;" “Two Dozen Roses;" "The Church on Cumberland Road;" and “Darned If I Don't (Danged If I Do).” After a long run as Shenandoah’s lead singer in the eighties and nineties, Raybon has most recently been out on the road with his band “Full Circle,” playing over a hundred dates a year to a dedicated fan base.

Marty Raybon will be the first in his genre to join the GrandVista roster, which includes artists Perry Danos and Shelean Newman, the GrandVista Recording Orchestra, Quaver, and Orchestra Mastrangelo. "We're really proud to be signing Marty. We've got great plans for him,” says GrandVista CEO David Mastran. “I look forward to the grand scheme of the next chapter in my life with GrandVista" adds Raybon. That next chapter will include a country album, with a single slated to release later this year.

GrandVista Announces Distribution Deal with HiFive/Fontana -- (March 16, 2009)

Nashville-based GrandVista Music announced today its new distribution deal with HiFive/Fontana. The deal was signed on Friday, January 16th and marks the beginning of a new era for the independent label, whose offices are on Nashville’s famed Music Row.

HiFive is a music sales and marketing organization founded by former Verve executives Michael Kauffman and Tony Pellegrino, along with Kevin Cassidy, formerly of Tower.

HiFive’s partnership with Fontana Distribution – part of the Universal Music Group – is designed to provide indie labels, such as GrandVista with access to the music marketplace.

HiFive’s offering to indie labels is unique in that, in addition to access to national distribution via Fontana, the HiFive team delivers an additional layer of services such as sales & account management services.

The two firms were introduced by Passionate Marketing CEO Benjamin Kosman. "I saw a great potential for synergy between GrandVista's artist roster & label mission and HiFive’s services," says Kosman of the deal. GrandVista has partnered with the New York-based Passionate agency for strategic consulting and marketing services.

GrandVista Music, founded in 2006 by entrepreneur David Mastran and veteran Nashville producer Paul Carrol Binkley is preparing to launch a series of new releases adeptly embracing an eclectic array of Big Band, jazz, orchestral and new pop music.

These include Swinging On The Moon, the new album by Perry Danos, scheduled for release in May of 2009. On this album, Perry Danos offers silk and smoke renderings of twelve classic standards by such composers as Mel Torme, Stevie Wonder, Harold Arlen and Sam Cooke.

Singer-Songwriter Shelean Newman’s debut album, Anything Goes is slated for release in June 2009. Shelean also covers standards from the Great American Songbook, but steps far to the left of their original interpretations with innovative arrangements that can’t help but find the listener rediscovering the songs.

David Mastran says, "The purpose at GrandVista is to produce not only top quality, original songs but also stunning, new arrangements of traditional favorites. We are a collaborative family where everyone's creative input is solicited."

HiFive's Tony Pellegrino adds, "We're excited to be involved in supporting an organization dedicated to crafting compelling music for an audience that is looking for quality.”

Officially Introducing GrandVista Music! -- (February 13, 2009)

New Record Label Defies Music Industry Conventions With Self-Contained, Artist-Friendly Business Model

Nashville, TN: Music Row is home to a new record label. For two years now, GrandVista Music may have been quietly occupying the unmistakable yellow Victorian on Grand Avenue, but in that short time the label’s activity has been undeniable. Despite the locale being virtually synonymous with country music, GrandVista is spearheading a handful of important new releases adeptly embracing an eclectic array of Big Band, jazz, orchestral and new pop music. The label is primed for its ushering into the music industry’s field of vision. ''

GrandVista, founded in 2006 by entrepreneur David Mastran and veteran N-ville producer, songwriter/arranger and guitarist, Paul Carrol Binkley, is unique in that it has actively worked to break down the tired walls between artists and labels so prevalent in the current industry climate. As CEO Mastran explains, "We are a collaborative family where everyone's creative input is solicited." The label’s tag line, “Make Time For Music,” underscores its mission to reach out through music, without pretense or barriers, to see music as a powerful force in everyone’s lives.

In effect, GrandVista is akin to the self-contained labels of the past with all working under one roof. Think back to the Capitol Records model of the ‘60s and ‘70s, Berry Gordy’s Motown, Atlantic Records under Ahmet Ertegun, even the Brill Building, where artistic freedom, expression and empowerment reign supreme.

Initially conceived as a vehicle for Mastran and Binkley’s musical collaboration, the label became a magnet for other artists and projects happening around Music Row, namely, noted singer/entertainer, Perry Danos and song stylist Shelean Newman, both of whom are set to release new albums on the GrandVista label this spring. Both Danos and Newman recorded and mixed their projects at GrandVista’s state-of-the-art studio and utilized the label’s in-house ensemble, the GrandVista Recording Orchestra (GVRO), which features some of the finest musicians that Nashville has to offer.

At GrandVista, artists share space with label execs, video producers, recording engineers and arrangers. In fact, both Danos and Newman have offices in the GrandVista complex. Shelean Newman says of the GrandVista environment, “GrandVista is a very unique, special place. In addition to the tight knit family vibe that serves as the foundation here, our creativity is encouraged and supported. It's a relatively uncommon luxury to be given the time to develop ourselves as artists.”

Perry Danos adds, “GrandVista, is everything a home for an artist should be. With the possible exception of a ‘round the clock masseuse, the label provides everything needed for me to get projects done!”

Perry’s silk and smoke rendering of standards has won him a sizable and dedicated fanbase nationwide. GrandVista is will release Danos’ Swingin’ On The Moon in early 2009. The album features twelve classic songs by such composers as Mel Torme, Stevie Wonder, Harold Arlen and Sam Cooke.

Shelean Newman’s debut album, Anything Goes is slated for release on GrandVista in Spring 2009. Shelean also covers standards from the Great American Songbook, but steps far to the left of their original interpretations with innovative arrangements that can’t help but find the listener rediscovering the songs.

In addition to the aforementioned groundbreaking titles by Shelean Newman and Perry Danos, GrandVista releases in 2009 will include a new offering by Orchestra Mastrangelo, which combines symphonic music with pop arrangements.

So, in the interest of making time for music, let us please welcome GrandVista Music, a true oasis in this rocky terrain we call the music biz.

GrandVista Makes Grand Entrance to American Standards -- (August 29, 2008)

With SWINGIN’ ON THE MOON By Recording Artist Perry Danos.

GrandVista Music is pleased to introduce SWINGIN’ ON THE MOON from Perry Danos. Perry Danos, who hails from Chicago, where an array of sounds echo through the streets of the City (from Rock, Blues, Jazz, Country and the Symphony), is an accomplished, versatile, live performer who is set to make his national debut with SWINGIN’ ON THE MOON not based on corporate directive, but out of sheer personal, artistic preference.'''''

Having become a “voice in demand,” Danos has worked with Donna Summers, Raul Malo, Wayne Newton, The Four Tops, Martina McBride, Leon Russell, Pat Patrick Orchestra & Show Band and Tony Bennett. He’s appeared in music videos for popular artists Shania Twain, Randy Travis and Gretchen Wilson. He can be heard on national television and radio commercials for Toyota, Coke, Southwest Airlines, Kodak, Ford, Disney, Wendy’s, Coors and Budweiser. He’s played live corporate events for a number of large companies (such as Boomtown Casinos, Ford, Radio Shack, Suzuki, Primerica and many more); has enjoyed the privilege to perform for political figures George Bush, Bill Clinton and Al Gore; and at various locales in Nashville.

Danos signed to GrandVista in 2007. His vocals have been described as an easy-does-it blend of Tony Bennett and Rod Stewart. “Perry’s sound is genuine and sincere; it’s not manufactured,” GrandVista Chairman David Mastran, introduced. “His artistry and commitment to his performance mirrors GrandVista’s trademark. It was a natural fit to add Perry to our roster.”

Established as a label that is committed to excellence and fine quality in delivering “lifestyle” music, the new CD from Perry Danos [SWINGIN’ ON THE MOON] speaks volumes to reinforce the label’s initiative. Perry has molded and shaped his artistry to make it a memorable and moving interpretation and it is revealed in his GrandVista CD project.

SWINGIN’ ON THE MOON has a little bit of everything from Perry Danos. The CD resonates overtones from his mentors, Sam Cooke, Patsy Cline, Elvis, Rod Stewart, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin and the Beatles, and is enveloped in a “whole room of sound” made up of big band brass and symphony strings. The Nashville recording project features twelve all-time favorite American standards including: “Swingin’ on the Moon” (Mel Torme), “The Long and Winding Road” (The Beatles--Lennon/McCartney), “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” (Harold Arlen/E. Y. Harburg), “Snap Your Fingers” (Grady Martin/Alex Zanetis), “Lately” (Stevie Wonder/Johanan Vigoda) and “You Send Me” (Sam Cooke).

Produced Paul Binkley and Kevin Madill, SWINGIN’ ON THE MOON highlights the talents of some of Music City’s renowned musicians including: Doug Moffet, Mark Douthit, Mike Haynes, Barry Green, George Tidwell, Bob Mater, Craig Nelson, David Angell, David Davidson and Steve Willets among many others.

Perry Danos recorded SWINGIN’ ON THE MOON merely as a personal preference and with pure affinity for the quintessential tunes that make American Music great. "SWINGIN’ ON THE MOON is a CD that wraps its arms around the listener to enable them to return to a sentimental time,” Mastran added. “It’s music for the soul that brings back happy memories while offering listeners the opportunity to enjoy timeless standards from a new perspective.

Danos joins Shelean Newman, the GrandVista Recording Orchestra, Mr. Quaver and Orchestra Mastrangelo on the GrandVista roster.

GrandVista Music Brings New Vision to Old Standards -- (December 07, 2006)

3 CD Box Set
Includes Booklet From Musicologist/Best Selling Author Robert Morgan
Also Included: Bonus CD Featuring New Orchestrations Of Christmas Hymns'

Nashville, TN - What is old is made new again -that's the philosophy behind GrandVista Music and their new 3-cd box set How Sweet the Sound. Chris Walters and Paul Binkley have united to produce a new sound in hymns. Fusing smooth jazz and old-fashioned melody through orchestral arrangements reveals yet another facet of these timeless songs. The Christmas Hymns bonus CD is especially interesting because a children's choir has been integrated into the flow almost like a jazz instrument - not taking front and center stage - but providing contrast for the rest of the arrangement.

It's not just the arrangements of these classic hymns that are getting a new, exciting, yet still reverent update. GrandVista Music is also taking a fresh approach to delivering and marketing music by using direct response television advertisement, direct mailing, and extensive Internet advertising to promote their products. GrandVista Music has launched several new marketing initiatives that are in the test stages right now.

A key component that differentiates GrandVista from other music companies is the very foundation upon which the company was built. In an increasingly complex world, filled with more and more distractions, GrandVista's mission is simple - "Make time for music."

"Music provides both entertainment and a catalyst for our imagination," says GrandVista Chairman David V. Mastran. "Basically, music enriches our lives, intensifies our experience, and gives more meaning to who we are. That's why we say: "Make time for Music.""

The music on How Sweet the Sound box set and Christmas album is courtesy of the GrandVista Recording Orchestra, whose members represent the uniquely diverse talent pool that is a hallmark of Nashville. Collectively, the musicians, arrangers and producers who make up the Orchestra have worked with biggest names in popular music including Michael McDonald, Amy Grant, Vince Gill, Tony Bennett, Diana Krall, Michael W. Smith, Alison Krauss and more.

GrandVista strives to deliver the finest quality possible with every release, including packaging and production. The company teamed with Robert J. Morgan, minister, hymns musicologist and best-selling author to create the Heritage of Our Hymns companion booklet included in every How Sweet the Sound box set. The booklet outlines the origin and history behind these beloved hymns.

That kind of commitment to excellence is helping GrandVista build a brand as a leader in lifestyle music. GrandVista is a new company built on old principles - quality, integrity and passion. Now that does sound sweet.
